Gamers in Japan get an early jump at Super Mario Galaxy, which could be the defining game for the Nintendo Wii. It's already getting perfect reviews. However, people didn't go crazy for Super Mario Galaxy over in Japan because there were no long lines for it.

Despite this, Nintendo still sold a respectable 130,000 in the first day. It's not bad considering how little Nintendo has been marketing it over there, but it really should be higher. Super Mario Galaxy is the first major release of Mario since Mario 64. There have been a lot of minor Mario games in between, but this is the real deal.

The positive is that Mario games still sell well long after they are released. Hopefully, reviews will increase the purchase rate.
