Nintendo is looking forward to reap benefits from the ongoing trend of digital videos. This was obvious when Nintendo decided to join the ad agency Dentsu Inc. to launch a video distribution service. This new video distribution service will offer cartoons and other entertainment programs. Both Nintendo and Dentsu aim to differentiate their service from other online content delivery program. The service will be launched in Japan somewhere early in 2009 and later in other countries.

Nintendo was up to something new after the new Wii drives were released recently. Thus, after a year and a half, Nintendo has taken up the same path as Microsoft’s XBOX and Sony’s PS3 adopted for video distribution.

Nintendo has uploaded Maboshi’s Arcade to the Nintendo WiiWare channel along with a new billiards and a pool game from Hudson. Nintendo has also uploaded Zoda’s Revenge: Star Tropics II to the Wii Virtual Console.

Nintendo’s Maboshi Arcade has three game modes based on the three shapes, circle, stick and square. The game has Mii characters and action replays which could be transferred via WiiConnect24. The game could also be downloaded on Nintendo DS for playing. Hudson’s Cue Sports – Pool Revolution involves a Wii Remote for taking shots on balls. The game could also be connected to Wi-Fi Connection and has two types of controls which allows both the Wii Remote or the buttons to be used for the shots and then striking them.
